The start hold itself is quite grippable, with a ridge coming straight out of it, but more holistically the start of this slabby route is difficult. I established with feet smearing, then got right foot up to the hold by the start hold and used a pistol squat to get up. Really using the apex of the volume above the start hold, and also using the first two footholds as handholds. Once you grab the top-left black hold, you're pretty much set.
