Got this second try with help from a friendly stranger, who says that (a) competitive climbing rules explicitly allow using bolt holes like the one on the dualtex hold, and (b) the footholds on this route are good if you trust them and bad if you don't! I did the last bit with tall people skills instead of trusting the hold completely but I'll take it and maybe I'll get better. The second move is an inside step with left foot passing in front of right foot, which is less scary than I thought it would be!
The bolt hole on the dualtex hold is definitely helpful, though before I used that I made decent use of just firmly grasping around the whole thing, dualtex surface and all.
